Writing in the Equal Times, Sharan Burrow (ITUC) and Kumi Naidoo (Greenpeace) argue that only by building broad alliances can we tackle climate change. Decades of inaction by political leaders means that we need to build a mass movement from the bottom-up, if we want the UN climate summit in Paris in December to deliver a breakthrough. Trade unions play a key role in mobilising our members and ensuring there is a just transition for all  workers.

The article highlights an example from Norway, an oil-rich nation, where a broad climate coalition of trade unionists, environmentalists and the church has developed to build a ‘bridge to the future‘.
